Checkpoints Top Concern for West Bank Palestinians

A Pew Research Center survey (March 30–April 28, 2026) finds about 9 in 10 Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem view Israeli checkpoints as a major problem for them and their families. Respondents explicitly link checkpoints to lost job opportunities, reduced access to healthcare and barriers to moving between cities, and some say opening crossings for work would materially change prospects for coexistence. — If checkpoints are the dominant lived grievance, they will shape Palestinian public opinion, labor flows, health access and the political feasibility of any near‑term coexistence or reconciliation efforts.
