Despite repeated predictions of its decline, Facebook still leads social platforms as a regular news source for U.S. adults (40% say they regularly get news there in Pew’s Aug. 24–30, 2026 survey). The platform also continues to have a high share of its own users reporting they regularly consume news there (57% of Facebook users).
— This undercuts assumptions that Facebook’s news influence has been eclipsed and matters for advertising policy, moderation responsibility, and regulatory attention toward legacy social platforms.
