Fake polls fuel election misinformation

Polling has mutated from a measurement process into an arena where artificial and intentionally skewed surveys can be produced cheaply (AI‑generated synthetic data, paid panels, or motivated weighting) and presented as legitimate, thereby manufacturing apparent public opinion. Those faux polls can be used to shape news cycles, donor behavior, turnout expectations, and candidate narratives without visible accountability. — If fake or heavily constructed polls become common, they will distort electoral signals, erode trust in journalism and institutions, and become a low‑cost tool of political influence or fraud.
