Nature Is Not Inherently Good

Public vocabularies often smuggle a moral judgment into the word 'nature' — framing it as pure and good and opposing it to the corrupting human-made. Bruno Latour’s video argues we should drop that binary and treat natural and artificial systems as entangled actors with reciprocal influence. — If adopted, this vocabulary would change debates over climate, technology, conservation and regulation by moving from a purity/vice script to one that treats responsibility and agency as distributed across human and nonhuman networks.
