Religious intensity hides partisan heterogeneity

Large survey data show Latter‑day Saints are among America’s most religious groups (high rates of daily prayer and weekly worship), yet their political and social views are not uniform — many identify Republican but differ from other Republicans on diversity and gender‑role questions. This internal variation is measurable using Pew’s 2023–24 Religious Landscape Study and subgroup breakdowns (lifelong members, converts, former members). — If highly religious blocs are internally diverse, parties and policymakers cannot treat them as monoliths when building coalitions or designing messaging and policy.
